  1. Explain in your own words what a feud is. You may like to use a dictionary to help you… a long standing argument or fight, and sometimes some kind of war.
  2. Who was the feud between in Romeo and Juliet?… The Capulats and the Montagues.
  3. Why is the feud important in the play?… Because it was what was holding back Romeo and Juliet from being in love freely.
  4. Find three quotations from the play that illustrate the feud… 1. “Abraham: Do you bite your thumb at us, sir? Sampson: I do bite my thumb, sir.” (act 1, scene 1) 2. “For this alliance may so happy prove, to turn your households’ rancour to pure love.” Friar Lawrence (act 2, scene 3) 3. “These violent delights have violent ends, and in there triumph die, like fire and powder.” Friar Lawrence (act 2, scene 6)
  5. In today’s world are there any groups of people that continue feuds in this way. Give some examples… celebrity feuds, government feuds, etc.
  6. Who do you think is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet? ‘themselves? Their parents? The friar? Explain your opinion with detail and reasons… I think its the Friars fault for giving a young girl poison when she doesn’t even know what shes saying. Juliet barged in all willy nilly and crazy and instead of helping her calm down and talking some sense into her or give her a reasonable plan, he gave her a vile of poison.
